Folks, if you haven’t seen The Alabama Solution yet, you really need to.
It is shocking and heartbreaking. Powerful.
It is a remarkable film using cellphone footage smuggled out of the Alabama prison system and it paints a horrific picture of what’s going on inside our state’s prisons. Corruption, abuse, cover-ups. And since the word got out about the film, the prisoners who recorded the footage have been transferred to solitary. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
There really is a laundry list of things we’ve just got to change about how things are run in our state, but cleaning up the prison system needs to be near the top of the list. And before Tommy Tuberville runs to a Newsmax microphone (the only place he’ll talk to, it seems like) to whine about how I’m soft on crime, remember I’m a former federal prosecutor. I know a thing or two about putting criminals behind bars where they belong.
Today all I’m asking you to do is watch the trailer and if you’re interested check the film out on HBO. And share this message with a friend to show them the trailer too. It was just nominated for Best Documentary at the Academy Awards and it is worth a watch.
Time for change. We all need to do our part.
