We were running in a potential special election last year, but when Republicans saw how strong a candidate Blake was, they got cold feet and withdrew Elise Stefanik’s nomination for U.N. Ambassador. Then, Stefanik knew she had tough competition with Blake running, so she jumped into the race for governor. Now, Stefanik has suspended her campaign for governor and decided not to run for re-election in Congress, so we’re in uncharted territory.

This is an open seat for the first time in years, and before Stefanik held it, the district had a Democratic representative. Now more than ever before, we have a strong chance of winning this seat and sending a farmer with real North Country values to Washington.
