Donald Trump just said Republicans should “take over voting” and “nationalize the voting.”
Let that sink in. That is not democracy. That is not freedom. That is a call for a one-party MAGA dictatorship where Trump and his allies control elections and decide whose votes count.
Trump isn’t hiding what he wants. He wants MAGA to call the shots. He wants to silence critics. He fears the people because he knows he’s losing them. And instead of changing his policies or earning back trust, he’s choosing the oldest trick in the dictator’s playbook: undermine elections so he never has to face voters again.
What’s almost as alarming is the silence from Senate Republicans. They see what Trump is saying. They know how dangerous it is. And yet they refuse to speak up, because they’re more afraid of Trump than they are of losing our democracy.
Retaking the Senate is how we block Trump’s push toward dictatorship. It’s how we defend free and fair elections. It’s how we protect the right of every American to have a voice.
