Here’s everything you need to know about this anti-voter bill

John,
Do you remember the SAVE Act? Last year, lawmakers tried to pass this deeply unpopular bill that would have blocked millions of eligible Americans from voting. It didn’t go over well. At town halls across the country, voters demanded that their elected representatives protect the freedom to vote and reject this voter suppression bill.
But last week, lawmakers in both the House and Senate renewed their push to pass the SAVE Act, introducing multiple new versions of this awful bill. Like their predecessor, these proposals would require voters to produce a document like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote. More than 21 million American citizens don’t have these documents readily available.
Members of Congress gave up on the original SAVE Act after hearing strong opposition from their constituents. We must make sure they hear us again.
John, please take a moment to send your members of Congress a message urging them to say “no” to the SAVE Act:

The SAVE Act’s “show your papers” requirement is an attack on the freedom to vote. When Arizona and Kansas implemented similar policies, tens of thousands of eligible citizens were blocked from registering.
Who would be most impacted if the SAVE Act were to become law? Voters of color, younger voters, and low-income Americans. This voter suppression must be stopped — again.
Last year, people across the country stood up against the SAVE Act and protected every American’s freedom to vote. Now we need you to stand up, John.
