** ICE Agent Fatally Shoots Observer Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis
------------------------------------------------------------
On January 7, ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, 37, a woman acting as an observer in south Minneapolis. Hundreds of community members showed up in protest and many were met with chemical weapons deployed by federal agents, including several people who were shot directly in the face.

** ICE Agents Alter Tactics, Work With Impunity While Violating US Citizen’s Rights in Minnesota

Under the Trump Administration’s quota-driven mass deportation plan, separation ordinances and legal protections no longer appear to matter. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office have been working hand-in-hand with federal agents.

** DHS and Protesters Face off at Whipple Federal Building
------------------------------------------------------------
This was the first week of large protests at the Whipple Federal Building where ICE’s operational headquarters and detainment center is located. Since then, the federal building has been the site of dozens of arrests as protesters chant and ridicule the agents, shaming them as they enter and leave the facility while others attempt to block the roadway.

** Large Noise Demo Against ICE Crashed by Police Who Arrest 30
------------------------------------------------------------
Over a thousand protesters visited two hotels in downtown Minneapolis on Jan. 9, equipped with loud noise makers, in an attempt to disrupt the sleep of any ICE officers who may be staying in the hotels. More than four hours into the roving noise demo, a large intra-agency state police response led to a reported 30 arrests of people who refused to leave after dispersal orders were given.

** Tractors on the Highways, Survival on the Line: Greece’s Farmers Rise Up

Across Greece, farmers set up roadblocks in what they describe as a fight for survival. For many, this is no longer about negotiation or leverage. Since his release from prison, J6er Jake Lang has been on a rampage across the country, sparking violent encounters through racist and Islamophobic rallies. On Jan. 17, Lang brought his anti-Islam campaign to Minneapolis’ City Hall, an appearance counter-protesters were prepared for.

** Barricades Protect Autonomous Grieving Zone in South Minneapolis After ICE Killed Woman
------------------------------------------------------------
Barricades were put up by activists and community members to create an autonomous grieving zone on the block that Renee Good was killed by federal agent Jonathan Ross on Jan. 7, 2026. Minneapolis Police took the barricades down the next morning. The vigil site still stands.

** Far-Right Activists Descend on ICE Protest in Minnesota, Attempt to Agitate Violence

Right-wing influencers have flocked to Minnesota to create content and agitate crowds. Protesters confronted far-right personalities such as Jake Lang, Jayden Scott, and Gregor Butzow on Jan. 9 and Nick Sortor and Cam Higby over that weekend. ** Protester Arrested by Agents Outside Whipple Federal Building

An elder man was shot with pepper balls and arrested by federal agents after protesting ICE in the driveway of the Whipple Federal Building on Jan. 11, 2026. The man's car was driven into the parking lot by a DHS agent and then a tow truck came and took the car away.

** Border Commander Bovino Oversees Arrests as Far-Right Agitators Arrive at Whipple Federal Building

At the Whipple Building on January 15, Customs and Border Protection Commander Greg Bovino came out on the skirmish line to film propaganda videos as federal agents pushed protesters, slipped on the ice and dropping their pepperballs while also making some brutal arrests. Far-right agitator Jayden Scott also appeared and was detained by federal agents.
