Friends —
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to overturn DC’s decision to decouple our tax code from Trump’s “Big Billionaire Bailout” — taking funding away from our local tax credits to lift children out of poverty and stripping our city of hundreds of millions of dollars.
I worked hard with DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson to spearhead the effort to decouple our tax code so that we can protect working families, strengthen our budget, and keep our economy stable.
Politicians who don’t live here and don’t vote here just decided they know better than DC residents.
It’s the same story we’ve seen for years:
When DC makes progress, Congress tries to pull us backward.
That’s exactly why this election matters.
We need a Mayor who will step up when DC is under attack — someone who knows how to stand up to Congress and fight and deliver for our city.
That’s who I’ve always been. And that’s what this campaign is all about.
If you’re ready to protect Home Rule and build a city that works for everyone, I’m asking you to step in:
- Volunteer to knock doors
- Help collect petitions
- Make calls to neighbors
- Host a meet-and-greet
Every hour matters. Every voice matters.
Let’s show Congress what DC looks like when we stand together.
In this fight with you,
Kenyan
P.S. Sign up to volunteer today — this is how we defend Home Rule and win this race.
