As a Capitol Police Officer and as an American, January 6th, 2021, was the darkest day of my life. I was immersed for what felt like countless hours in a profane mix of sweat, screams, shrieks, anger, death, fear, blood, broken limbs, spit, hatred, horror, racism, and bigotry.

The wounds that my heroic fellow officers endured are still healing. But my commitment to ensuring the strength of our democracy has only deepened.

It’s the reason I’ve decided to run for Congress for Maryland’s 5th District.

I made this choice because I cannot sit idly by while our very right to survive is under attack by Donald Trump. I’ve fought against his angry mob before, and I’m ready to do it again.
