Hi John, it’s Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis.
This Black History Month, I'm reflecting on my family’s story, which is similar to so many families in our Commonwealth.
I’m the son of a union bus driver and a hairdresser. Like so many parents, they sometimes struggled to balance raising kids with putting food on the table and paying the bills. My parents did everything they could to protect and provide for my siblings and me. Then one day in high school, violence came to our doorstep when I saw someone in my neighborhood get shot while I was walking home from school.
Those experiences inspired me to pursue a career in public service.
I went on to become Pennsylvania’s first Black Lieutenant Governor and the youngest LG in American history. Now I’m running for reelection alongside Governor Josh Shapiro.
Can you chip in to my reelection campaign now? I have a history of fighting for the Commonwealth with no plan on stopping anytime soon, but I need your help.
As Lt. Gov., I’m on the front lines of defense against the Trump administration.
This fight is personal for me. When we should be remembering the fighters who came before us, like K. Leroy Irvis, Juanita Kidd Stout, and Robert Nix Jr., the Trump Administration has eroded DEI protections and ordered the removal of slavery exhibits from National Parks and museums, like Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia.
Black history is made every day and it’s up to us to make Pennsylvania a place where every person has the opportunity to succeed and live the American Dream. So, will you join me in this fight by chipping in to my reelection campaign now?
