CBS 2 BWC: Man barricades himself in bathroom with grandmother, shoots at Dallas officers before OIS Police released body camera footage of a shooting involving an armed 18-year-old suspect who barricaded himself in a bathroom with his grandmother during a domestic disturbance call, NBC DFW reported. The Feb. 2 incident unfolded when officers responded to a 911 call from the suspect’s father, who reported that his son was armed and threatening to shoot family members. Body camera footage shows officers entering the home, where they were advised by family members, including the suspect’s grandmother, who was trapped in a bathroom with the suspect. The officer then began to break through the door. As soon as the door opened, the suspect pointed a gun with an extended magazine at the officer and fired at least one shot, striking the officer in the chest. The officer’s ballistic vest prevented more severe injuries. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect’s grandmother was also shot. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said officers acted quickly to prevent further harm. “They saved lives,” he said. “... If [the officer] had not taken those actions, I believe more lives would have been lost.” PoliceOne Wisconsin man steals cruiser, strikes and injures 4 officers A suspect with multiple outstanding warrants led police on two vehicle pursuits, stole a marked Wauwatosa Police Department squad car and injured four officers, the department stated. The Feb. 3 incident began when an officer on patrol at Mayfair Mall saw a 26-year-old man who had been told by mall security to leave the property, according to the release. When the individual returned toward the mall, the officer ordered him to leave again. The man instead got into a white minivan. Police said a license plate check showed the vehicle had been involved in a domestic violence incident and police pursuits earlier that morning in Oak Creek and Brown Deer. The suspect locked himself inside the minivan and fled when an officer attempted a traffic stop, prompting a pursuit through Wauwatosa streets. Near North 116th Street, officers attempted to contain the vehicle. The suspect exited the minivan and ran toward an unoccupied police squad, according to the release. As officers tried to arrest him, he entered the cruiser, put it in reverse, and accelerated, knocking several officers to the ground and striking another squad car. A second pursuit followed as the suspect drove the stolen squad west on West North Avenue into Brookfield, traveling through residential streets and yards. The pursuit ended after the suspect crashed into another Wauwatosa patrol car. CBS 2 Video: Car crashes into hydrant in Van Nuys; water pushes vehicle into the air After a car crashed into a fire hydrant in Van Nuys, it was sent into the air by the impact of water rushing out from the broken hydrant. The incident was reported as a rollover crash into a fire hydrant at 12:56 p.m. on Roscoe Boulevard near Ventura Canyon Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. But surveillance video footage appears to show a different story as it caught the moment of the collision. A vehicle appears to drive through the intersection but is clipped by a silver sedan then pushed onto a curb and into the fire hydrant, the video shows. With the screeching sound of the fire, a yellow metal post can be seen flown out. The intersection soon becomes a watery mess with a pool of water spreading across the street, according to the video footage. As the water bursts out from the hydrant, it sends the car up in the air. The can can be seen tiled up about 70 degrees from the ground. An elderly woman was driving the car with her husband in the passenger seat. "(I saw) a few stars then a lot of water," the driver's husband said while chuckling when asked about what he witnessed. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for causing the minor car collision, which led to the hydrant damage and massive water waste.
