This Is a Moment to Show Up — Sponsor Wine, Chocolate & Choice

Join Women Winning on Thursday, March 5, from 6–9pm at The Whim in Minneapolis for a night of community, solidarity, and action.

Wine, Chocolate & Choice is a critical fundraising and networking event for pro-choice women and allies across Minnesota. At a time of escalating political violence and direct attacks on our rights and our communities, showing up together—and investing in values-aligned organizations—has never mattered more. Isolation weakens movements; community strengthens them.

Funds raised through Wine, Chocolate & Choice power Women Winning’s work to recruit, train, and elect pro-choice champions across our state. These leaders are on the front lines, defending reproductive freedom and standing up for the safety and dignity of our communities. Your sponsorship helps ensure we have the resources we need to support leaders at this moment.

This is more than an event. It’s a chance to turn urgency into impact, fear into solidarity, and community into lasting change. Join us—and be part of the collective strength our movement needs right now.

Children with disabilities particularly vulnerable to Minneapolis ICE crackdown

The Trump administration’s weeks-long immigration enforcement campaign in Minneapolis, which has shuttered schools and terrified students and parents, has left one group particularly vulnerable: children with disabilities.

Their families, who already fear their kids shutting down, running away, harming themselves or acting out when confronted under normal circumstances, have seen their anxiety skyrocket as they contemplate worst-case scenarios with federal agents.

Tens of thousands of Minnesotans gathered in sub-zero temperatures Friday to demonstrate against the federal government’s ongoing presence, including surrounding the airport terminal and flooding the streets downtown.

Idil Ahmed, who lives near the epicenter of the daily raids and protests, worries about her 6-year-old autistic daughter having a meltdown during an encounter with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.  “If they stop us, all hell will break loose with my child,” Ahmed said. “And there is no talking to these people.”

U.S. Turns Its Back on Global Efforts for Women and Children Terrorized by Violence and Conflict

The Trump administration’s recent announcement that it is withdrawing from 66 international organizations and treaties is another blow to the global system, where all countries unite to share concerns, agree on rules of conduct and determine agendas for collective action.

Coming on the heels of the U.S. attack on Venezuela—considered a violation of international law—the White House claims, without specific justification, that these organizations and initiatives “operate contrary to U.S. national interests, security, economic prosperity or sovereignty.”

Some experts say many of these organizations are niche and peripheral initiatives. They say the groups receive little money from the U.S., anyway.

Additionally, most of the U.N. entities on the administration’s list are part of the U.N.’s main body, the Secretariat, which receives its funding primarily from membership dues that are required by legal obligations. In fact, the U.S. can’t technically withdraw from these groups without leaving the U.N. completely. It can, however, select not to participate in meetings of these bodies or finance them through additional funds.

Moreover, with the White House already defunding the foreign assistance that supported many of these organizations and the U.N. system, regardless of congressional appropriations, this stated withdrawal is unlikely to alter much for these organizations in the short term.

The loss is likely greater for America.

Stars Bring ‘ICE OUT’ Pins and Fiery Speeches to a Political Grammys

The signs began to emerge early on Sunday afternoon, as music stars filtered into the Grammy festivities in downtown Los Angeles, many of them sporting black-and-white pins that read “ICE OUT.”

That message, directed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, burst into public view about an hour into the televised broadcast, when Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican superstar who has been derided by the White House and right-wing media, accepted the award for best música urbána album.
“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ‘ICE out,’” Bad Bunny said, to a roaring standing ovation. “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
It was clear this was going to be the most politicized Grammy ceremony in years.
