Growing up as the youngest of four kids, more than anything, I was fighting for my voice to be heard. During our family’s dinner-table conversations, I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. At school, I was your typical geek with thick glasses and a funny last name. All this to say, I know what it's like to get picked on.
I also know how to stand tall when it matters. And right now, we need to stand tall. For months, Donald Trump has taken his grievances out on Colorado. He threatened to rip away child care resources from our state and nation, announced plans to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and denied disaster relief to Coloradans recovering from wildfires and flooding. He even vetoed a unanimously-passed bipartisan bill that would bring clean water to 50,000 rural Coloradans. Why? Because Colorado refuses to bend to his will and release Tina Peters, a convicted felon who is in prison for trying to interfere with the 2020 election. In other words: Trump’s picking on us. But Coloradans have made it clear that we won’t be intimidated by the bully in the White House. We’re fighting back with every tool we have to save NCAR, protect child care, demand disaster relief funding, and stand up to Trump’s mob boss tactics.
