Friend,
Black History Month reminds us why community, service, and leadership matter right here in eastern North Carolina.
I was raised by my grandmother who taught me the value of hard work, faith, and standing up for your neighbors. Those lessons led me to the Air Force Academy, to serve our country, and back home to teach and help rebuild our towns.
The contributions of Black leaders and families are woven through our schools, our churches, and our local businesses. While in Congress, I have fought to expand access to early childhood education in NC-01, lower the cost of higher education, increase resources for trade schools, and invest heavily in our HBCUs.
This month I want to listen and learn from the stories that shape our communities. We still face real challenges — access to quality healthcare, reliable broadband in rural towns, and good local jobs — and the solutions come from people who know this place best.
Thank you for carrying forward this legacy with me.
Gratefully,
Don Davis
