John,
Last weekend, Democrats pulled off a stunning victory in Texas, flipping a state senate seat that Republicans held for decades—by double digit margins, no less.
Just two years ago, Trump carried this district by 17 points. On Saturday, Democrat Taylor Rehmet won by more than 14 points. This isn’t an isolated result. It’s part of a broad trend that we’ve seen in special, state, and local elections across the country since Trump was elected to a second term.
Just look at last year’s Virginia elections, where we achieved a 100% win rate in our priority races—a first in Vote Pro-Choice history.
That means that the 2026 map is full of opportunities to build back pro-choice power, if we invest now.
Will you take one minute to commit right now to voting in every race on your ballot, to power victories from the top of the ticket to the bottom?
Here’s why we keep much of our focus on state and local races:
-
Down-ballot races shape real policy. State legislatures, governors, state courts, and local officials determine many policies that shape our daily lives and our real-world access to reproductive healthcare.
-
State and local electeds are on the frontlines of the fight against Trump. Officials like attorneys general, governors, and mayors have been leading the opposition to Trump throughout his first year of office.
-
The reverse coattails effect means that when we invest in turning out voters for down-ballot candidates, the top of the ticket benefits as well. We’re specifically focused on educating voters in areas with key federal races so that we can have maximum impact.
-
These are the leaders of tomorrow. So many Vote Pro-Choice alumni have gone on to hold federal office, and we’re building a deep bench of progressive, pro-choice talent.
Right now, momentum is on our side. From flipping city councils to flipping the U.S. Senate, we’re looking at a map of opportunity. Will you join us with a commitment to vote in every race?
With gratitude,
Team Vote Pro-Choice
