Hi John,

On four continents, in eight languages, and in 19 countries, each year, members of our Global Affiliate Network [[link removed]] bring life-affirming change to LGBTQ+ youth around the world. And because it’s easy to get tunnel vision on what’s happening in the U.S., we’re going to start sharing a quick monthly snapshot of the work our affiliates are leading around the world.

Since 2012, Todo Mejora [[link removed]] (“ everything gets better”) has delivered life-affirming support for LGBTQ+ youth in Chile. Their flagship program, Hora Segura (Safe Hour), is a critical part of suicide prevention and emotional support efforts across the region. For this work, they have been nominated—alongside nine other organizations—for the 2025 Human Rights Tulip Award, a Dutch government honor recognizing work that advances and protects human rights. Todo Mejora is the first Chilean organization to receive this nomination.

As Executive Director Cristián Prinea put it, this recognition “represents the work of so many who, throughout the 13 years of the foundation's existence, have promoted safe spaces free of violence for LGBTIQA+ children, adolescents, and youth.”

Chile isn’t our only affiliate making moves this year. Read on for more big wins.

Dr. Alex Rhys, the founder and CEO of It Gets Better UK [[link removed]], has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his service to healthcare + the LGBTQ+ community. It Gets Better Canada [[link removed]] has expanded their GLO App to include a new journey focused on how LGBTQ+ youth can safely navigate AI. The app was developed with a substantial grant from the Canadian government to support mental health in LGBTQ+ youth. It Gets Better Perú [[link removed]] is focusing on a variety of aspects pertaining to youth mental health, including a newly-released video focused on self-care, boundary settings, and engaging community support in overwhelming times.

It Gets Better Portugal [[link removed]] is collaborating with companies throughout the country and advising them on how to better include the perspectives of LGBTQIA+ people and youth in the workplace.

If you want a real picture of what it looks like to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe, start here: learn more about our global affiliates [[link removed]]. And if you’re compelled to do more: a gift to It Gets Better helps fuel this network [[link removed]], so we can make things better not just for LGBTQ+ youth in the United States, but all around the globe.
