WILL's Fight to End DEI

Generates National Attention

WILL’s work to end illegal and discriminatory Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs was once again featured in a national story, this time on the front page of the New York Times Sunday Edition. Since the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision on affirmative action, WILL has aggressively ramped up its Equality Under the Law Initiative, representing more than 80 clients across 25 states to challenge DEI programs.

These lawsuits target a range of sectors, including corporations, law firms, healthcare, and the arts, aiming to eliminate any program that awards scholarships, grants, or contracts based on race, ethnicity, or sex. Read the full New York Times article below!

Teacher Bill of Rights Clears Key Hurdle

This week, the Senate Education Committee passed the Teacher Bill of Rights, aimed at restoring classroom order and ensuring teacher safety in schools across Wisconsin.

The teaching environment has gotten so out of control recently that a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel analysis found that "personal safety" was among the top reasons cited by the 887 staff members who have left Milwaukee Public Schools in recent years. To address the state's teacher retention crisis, WILL Deputy Counsel Cory Brewer and Associate Counsel Lauren Greuel gave testimony highlighting the urgent need for administrative support when educators face disruptive or violent behavior.

WILL Testifies to Strip Power From Unelected Bureaucrats

WILL Associate Counsel Erin Gamble testified before the Assembly Committee on Government Operations to advocate for restoring constitutional balance by returning policymaking authority from administrative agencies to the state Legislature.

She spoke in favor Assembly Joint Resolution 133 and Assembly Bill 955 as solutions that grant lawmakers final oversight over burdensome agency rules and repeal overly broad executive powers. By curbing these agencies, the reforms ensure that elected representatives, not unelected bureaucrats, hold the power to shape Wisconsin law.
