Everything we do, from showing up to community-organized protests in below-zero temperature to calling our Senators to demand no more money for ICE, we do it for the love of our communities and our families.
In recent weeks, we’ve been carrying heavy emotions: anger, fear, helplessness. We’ve watched our loved ones being dragged out of their homes without a warrant, parents being shot by ICE agents, and our neighbors sent to detention hundreds of miles away from our communities.
We feel this way because we care for one another. Now is our time to channel these feelings into something much more powerful. We must extend care, love, and dignity to our neighbors. When we send a letter to our neighbors, we remind them that our community has their back and is fighting for their safety and dignity. In detention centers, where conditions are deliberately unbearable, a letter reminding someone of their humanity and our solidarity can sustain them in their fight for freedom.
