Friend, our collective advocacy worked.

Members of Congress rejected long-term additional funding for ICE and CBP, passing a measure that only funds DHS for 10 days. This happened because millions of people across the country spoke out by protesting, calling, and emailing their members of Congress — including 32,000+ of NILC’s supporters.

We applaud every member of Congress who refused to vote for one more taxpayer dollar to fuel the Trump administration’s deadly operations, but the fight is far from over.

Congress is still negotiating the budget and has the power to permanently block this additional funding. Whether the government is shut down or not, our lawmakers — in the House and Senate — must hold the line. And we, the people, must continue to exert pressure on them to safeguard our communities from further harm.

The clock is ticking: We only have 9 days to make our voices heard before the negotiation deadline. We’ve drafted an email with our demands — send it to your representatives right now and urge them to continue opposing funding for ICE and CBP. ([link removed])
