At the core of Lobby Day are meetings with state legislators on Tuesday, May 19 in Sacramento. We're scheduling them now, and we need you to join us. Constituent meetings are one of the most effective ways to support legislation that will tackle the housing shortage and affordability crisis. These meetings are a great way to amplify the voice of the YIMBY movement. And it's a lot of fun! Will you join us in Sacramento on May 19?

The 2026 YIMBY Lobby Day is a 1-day event where pro-housing activists meet with their legislators in Sacramento to advocate for their support of housing in general and a specific slate of housing bills. We provide training, meals, we schedule the meetings and can even help pay for your travel.

You will be introduced to your Lobby Group in advance, have time to meet them before your meetings start and we close the day with a fun reception. The day is designed for you to travel and return home all in the same day.

In 2026 we want to continue to improve the gender balance and bring more attendees from historically underrepresented communities to meetings with state legislators. So we need your help to spread the word to make sure our female presenting neighbors and those from historically underrepresented communities feel welcome and encouraged to join in our meetings with state legislators. We want our delegation to mirror the rich diversity of our beloved state.

We don't want finances to be a barrier to your participation. So to assist those experiencing financial hardship to join us, California YIMBY will provide travel reimbursement for travel to and from Sacramento for Lobby Day on a first come first serve basis. We have limited funds available for this purpose, and they'll stretch much further if you can arrange your travel early.
