We met with Florida’s education leaders.
Stand With Parkland | The National Association of Families for Safe Schools

Dear Herbert,

Every parent deserves to know their child is safe when they walk through the schoolhouse doors. That won’t happen by chance. Only when our nation’s school safety teams start being proactive, rather than reactive, will we reach real school safety.

Recently, our team travelled to Tallahassee to meet with Senior Chancellor Kevin O’Farell and Chancellor Kathryn Hebda to discuss Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management on every single public state college campus in Florida.

When a threat is identified early, we can intervene with the right mental health support or security measures. And managing that can make all the difference in preventing another family from having to deal with the unbearable pain of losing a loved one at school.

Our goal from this meeting is to ensure every school has a responsive threat reporting system in place. By supporting our work, you help us advocate for the tools that turn bystanders into lifesavers. Can you chip in to support our advocacy for safer schools?
