Kris Mayes for Arizona

John,

It's Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Arizona Republicans may resort to name-calling when I do my job on behalf of Arizona consumers.

The Chairman of the Cochise County Board of Supervisors recently called me a bully. He compared my work to the mafia. He said I "extorted" $11 million from a business.

Here's what actually happened: My office secured an $11 million settlement with Riverview, a company that owns roughly 51,000 acres in Cochise County and operates two dairies with about 13,000 dairy cows. The settlement protects Arizona's groundwater from being drained for corporate agriculture.

The chairman is furious because I'm protecting our water supply instead of letting corporations drain our aquifers dry.

He says I should go after "the Big Dogs" instead — like Colorado and other Upper Basin states. Well, guess what? I'm going after everyone who threatens Arizona's water, whether that's Saudi companies growing alfalfa, corporate dairies, or anyone else.

When utilities try to raise rates while reporting record profits, I fight them.

When corporate landlords collude to jack up rents, I sue them.

When companies drain our groundwater for profit, I hold them accountable.

And when Arizona Republicans call me names for doing my job, I keep doing my job.

The chairman says I'm "waging war" on Cochise County. What I'm actually doing is protecting Arizona's most precious resource — our water — from being exploited by corporations who don't care if our aquifers run dry.

Well, I'm going to keep doing my job on behalf of all Arizonans — no matter what they call me.

Can you chip in $10, $25, or whatever you can to support my re-election campaign?

They can call me a bully all they want. I call it being a fighter for Arizona families.

Thanks for having my back,

-Kris
