Are there no depths that ICE won’t sink to?
You’d think we’d seen the worst of the worst in Minnesota, with ICE murdering citizens in the streets, recklessly using [ [link removed] ] chemical agents in residential neighborhoods, and claiming [ [link removed] ] they no longer need a judicial warrant to break into peoples’ homes. But now, ICE has somehow discovered a new low - kidnapping children off the street.
Meet Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-year-old student at Valley View Elementary, who faced unimaginable terror as he languished in a detention center far from home for 2 weeks.
Training for new ICE members, as pitifully lacking [ [link removed] ] as it is, must contain a class designed to strip agents of their humanity. Because what kind of monster could detain a child and ship him off to another state?
Time to log on.
Liam was almost home from preschool when he was snatched up, along with his father. (Both are in the country legally [ [link removed] ] as asylum applicants.) As if this weren’t heinous enough, ICE agents proceeded [ [link removed] ] to use the child as “bait,” walking him to the door of his home and asking him to knock to see if anyone else was inside. ICE is trying to spin another narrative, claiming his father fled - that they had no choice but to detain the child, lest he be left out in the cold. They only had the best interests of the child at heart!
But in the aftermath of Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s murders, when party leaders from Trump to Vance to Noem spewed awful lies about them, to say that ICE has a credibility problem is a gross understatement. Let’s be clear: ICE made a deliberate choice to send Liam out of state. When another adult in his home and surrounding neighbors begged agents to let them take custody of Liam, ICE refused.
Thankfully, following blistering public scrutiny and a court order [ [link removed] ], Liam and his father are now back home in Minnesota. But who knows what terrible, lasting damage this ordeal has inflicted on this family? During his time in detention, Liam became [ [link removed] ] feverish, depressed, and barely responsive only to be denied medication when his father pleaded for it. Children may be resilient, but resilience is not a justification for cruelty. The loss of innocence, the erosion of trust, and the silent psychological wounds may follow Liam for years - long after the government has moved on.
Tragically, this is not an isolated incident; it is a pattern designed to strike fear into the hearts of minorities in Minnesota. In recent weeks, three other children have been detained. A 10-year-old student - a fourth grader - was with her mother when they were grabbed by ICE on the way to school. By the time her father raced to the scene, the two were gone - hurried off to a detention center in Texas. Who knows what horrific conditions [ [link removed] ] this child is now forced to endure there. It’s sickening to think that, in this instance, Liam is relatively lucky. Where is the outrage for this little girl? How much longer will she be imprisoned?
School officials have also witnessed ICE agents circling schools and following buses. Eyewitness video shows federal agents apprehending an unaccompanied pair of teenagers after ICE rear-ended them with their car. What part of this madness is supposed to make America more secure?

While this rash of kidnappings was unfolding, Gregory Bovino, the former Border Patrol agent leading the assault on Minneapolis, had the nerve to brand [ [link removed] ] ICE’s mission as “ethical and moral.” Trump took [ [link removed] ] to Truth Social, instructing ICE to brag about all the “murderers and other criminals” they’ve captured. But, these communities don’t feel safer. Minneapolis families now live in terror, as thousands of armed agents have been deployed across the state - and federal judges are allowing [ [link removed] ] this cruelty to go on. Parents are forced to keep their children home from school or face the possibility of having their family torn apart. These children are not criminals, and ICE’s version of “public safety” does more to traumatize than protect.
Trump and his administration trying to mount any defense of these actions shows how repulsively amoral MAGA has become. Children are being dragged into detention, leaving entire neighborhoods gripped by fear. This is the latest salvo in an ongoing assault on basic decency. If there is any hope of preserving our status as a civilized country - one that protects families and respects human dignity - then this assault on children cannot stand.
ICE and their deplorable tactics must be stopped now!
