Friend, Kristi Noem’s leadership as DHS Secretary has been disastrous and damaging for our nation.
She’s failed massively. She’s unfit to continue serving in her post. But, since she won’t resign in shame, we are calling on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings.
We said from the start that a MAGA diehard with no prior experience in immigration policy or homeland security would be a disaster as Secretary. That’s why Ed Markey voted against Noem’s nomination.
And in her first year as DHS Secretary, Kristi Noem has overseen ICE’s reign of terror in American cities.
She has been responsible for a complete breakdown of civil rights and Constitutional protections, allowing ICE to bust down doors, smash into people’s cars, and unlawfully search and detain US citizens at random and without proper warrants.
She has given her immigration enforcer thugs full license to brutalize observers and protestors with unnecessary force and violence — beating people, breaking ribs, choking people, pepper-spraying people at point blank range, tear gassing kids and babies, and more.
She helped cover up the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, falsely defaming them as “domestic terrorists” and shielding her agents from accountability for their deadly actions.
She has mismanaged detentions and deportations, forcing families to be held in cramped detention centers with inadequate food, water, hygiene, medical care, or access to their families and lawyers, and even deporting people to the wrong countries or “accidentally” arresting, and in some cases deporting, US citizens and legal residents.
These are damning failures of leadership — it’s past time for Kristi Noem to get the boot. Now Congress should help see her out.
