Opportunity Zones (OZs) are federally designated census tracts meant to spur investment in historically underserved, low-income communities.
and showcases opportunities for companies interested in investing in Washington. A revised program is being rolled out, called OZ 2.0, designating new opportunity zones. Communities will apply for OZ designation and will do so again once every ten years.
The program also will have other permanent changes to the policy’s geographic targeting criteria, incentive structure and reporting requirements. To help with educating communities and current OZ partners, Commerce is hosting a multi-month process to support Governor Ferguson in nominating up to 25% of Washington’s eligible low-income census tracts to be opportunity zones.

Commerce will partner with the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County to administer a $350,000 Strategic Reserve Fund Grant on the development of a new manufacturing site in Bothell for Portal Space Systems.
