John,
This is really big!
City Council approved our $800 million investment to move my administration's Housing Opportunity Made Easy, or H.O.M.E., initiative forward. This is a major step toward building and preserving 30,000 affordable homes for Philadelphians across our city.
But it is about more than housing, it's about preserving our neighborhoods and communities.
What matters most to me is the people who will benefit, who are currently facing the crunch of the housing crisis. Seniors who want to age with dignity in houses with good bones that need a little help. Families looking for stability. Workers who deserve an affordable place to call home. And for many Philadelphians, the opportunity to own a home, to build equity.
H.O.M.E. is the result of real partnership. City Council, the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council, the Philadelphia Housing Authority, and the many experts serving on our Housing Advisory Council came together to show that Philadelphia is strongest when we work as one city.
One Philly means we take care of each other. With Council approval, H.O.M.E. moves from vision to action. That means we will lead the nation in addressing housing.
Change does not happen overnight. But every step forward matters. Together, we are delivering on my promise to make Philadelphia the safest, cleanest, and greenest big city in the country, with opportunity for everyone.
Thank you for believing in this work and for standing with me. I am honored to serve you, and I am excited for what we will continue to build together.
Thank you. One Philly, A United City.
— Mayor Parker
