Email from Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation   Dear John, Recently, we received an email from a valued supporter. She asked, “Why are you embarking on the idea of environmental wellness? My answer is quite simple: “Someone has to lead and it’s us.” We’ve always been at the forefront of Alzheimer’s prevention going back many years. We have a legacy of firsts including being the first organization that revealed that Alzheimer’s is preventable by following a particular lifestyle. We lead globally in research on meditation and memory, with more than 40 published papers highlighting the numerous benefits of Kirtan Kriya. No one else comes close. Beyond that, just about a year ago, I read a 600-page advanced medical textbook called Alzheimer’s Disease and Air Pollution: The Development and Progression of a Fatal Disease from Childhood and the Opportunities for Early Prevention. The book begins by revealing the story of an 11-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a car in Mexico City, one of the most polluted places on earth. At autopsy, it was seen that this 11-year-old had the brain of a 50-year-old, including many pathological changes of Alzheimer’s. For decades, scientists have hunted for the biological spark that ignites Alzheimer’s. In addition to age, genetics, family history, and lifestyle, air pollution is now recognized as a hidden risk factor for this serious disease. When I first discovered this new medical textbook, I emailed the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, where I serve as The Prevention Editor. I asked him about writing an article that marries this new finding of air pollution with our published work on how living a Brain Longevity Lifestyle may prevent the disease. He agreed, and so the article was accepted before it was even written. The process of writing and publishing the article took seven months. So here we are, again leading the way. This research offers hope. By integrating evidence-based lifestyle medicine with environmental consciousness, we can safeguard our brain health today and ensure protection for future generations. There is not much time to lose. We invite you to join us for a series of webinars sharing this vitally important information.
