Growing up in a union household, my dad taught me early on that where you spend your money matters.

Whether it’s the tools in a garage or the candy in a heart-shaped box, when you see a union label, you know that the people who made that product have a seat at the table, fair wages, and a safe workplace.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I’m asking you to join me in a simple pledge: Buy your "special someone" candy made by union workers.

If you're looking for some union-made sweets, here are a few great options recommended by the AFL-CIO:

In Pennsylvania, labor is the backbone of our communities. When we support union shops, we’re supporting our neighbors and the working class.

It’s a small gesture, but it sends a powerful message that we value the people who make our economy run.
