I announced my support for a Millionaire's Tax proposal in December. At that time, I made it clear that a significant percentage of the revenue must be used to put money directly back in the pockets of Washingtonians. I reinforced that message in my State of the State address a few weeks ago.
We have an affordability crisis in Washington state and we need to address it.
As Democrats, we must be the party standing up for working families and providing tax relief to them and small business owners.
The current proposal only sends about 7% of the revenue back to Washingtonians. That's not nearly enough. That said, I am confident we can get to agreement on this important proposal in the remaining weeks of the legislative session.
