John,

Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve worked to make good on my promise to listen and bring all of our voices to the table, even when that means making tough decisions.

Let me be very clear: I am horrified by what has happened in Minnesota, and I am pushing for an independent investigation to bring transparency and accountability for the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

I am also calling on my fellow members to strategically use every tool at our disposal to secure meaningful structural reforms to ICE’s leadership and operations, rather than embracing the false narrative that shutdowns solve problems.

Keeping the government open while negotiations continue means that Congress can maintain its oversight authority, and avoid unnecessary strain on our communities and economy.

Rest assured that I will continue to work towards bipartisan solutions to protect public safety and our constitutional rights.

Your feedback is always important to me, so please feel free to share any thoughts or concerns by replying directly to this email.

Thanks for all you do.

Marie

P.S. Thanks to all who pitched in to help meet our January goal. We still have a lot of work to do as we look toward Election Day, and your support makes it all possible.
