Black History Month is not just a reflection on where we’ve been, it’s a moment to decide how we show up right now.

In a time when DEI efforts are being rolled back and our history is being erased, supporting Black-led organizations is not symbolic. It’s essential. Girls For A Change (GFAC) exists because Black girls deserve spaces where they are seen, heard, and prepared to lead.

This Black History Month, we’re inviting you to support in two meaningful ways.

1. Support Girls on Their Journey to Ghana

In July 2026, 18 Girls For A Change participants in our Her Journey Home Girl Action Team will travel to Ghana. This journey is designed to deepen identity, confidence, and global awareness, while helping Black girls see themselves as leaders connected to a larger history and future.

For many participants, this will be their first time traveling outside the U.S. and their first opportunity to experience the African continent firsthand. The journey includes cultural immersion, storytelling and documentary training, engagement with local educators and guides, and space for reflection on who they are and who they are becoming.

We are calling on our community to show up to help make this happen. You can support this journey by making a donation, sponsoring or “sending” a girl to Ghana, or starting a community-based fundraiser to help support travel expenses. Neighborhood gatherings, workplace giving days, school or faith-based fundraisers, youth-led campaigns, and family efforts all play a role in making this possible.

Funds raised directly support international travel, lodging, ground transportation, curriculum and cultural educators, safety and wellness support, storytelling tools, and scholarships—ensuring no girl is excluded due to cost. This is community-centered fundraising in action, where many people giving what they can creates lasting impact for our girls.
