John, it’s Valerie Foushee.

When I woke up this morning, the first thing on my mind was that we’re officially one month out from the NC-04 primary — and the next few weeks will decide a lot about the future of our district.

In the final stretch of any election, folks start paying closer attention, and they’ll make a choice about who they trust to represent NC-04 in Congress.

This year, that choice comes at a moment when so much is on the line.

Across the country, we’re watching fundamental rights and freedoms come under attack. We’re seeing extremists enact policies that are taking our country backward — rolling back protections for women and families, threatening access to healthcare, undermining voting rights, and attacking the very idea that everyone deserves a fair shot and a voice.

And at the same time, too many hardworking people here at home are still being squeezed by rising costs, by unfair corporate price-gouging, and by politicians who seem more interested in the spotlight than representing their communities.

It matters what kind of leadership we send to Washington.

So John, this is my promise to you: I’ll continue representing NC-04 with integrity — fighting to protect healthcare, defending Social Security and Medicare, standing up for public education, and expanding opportunity so that each and every family in NC-04 can thrive. I’m proud of what we’ve done, but I’m also clear-eyed: there is more work ahead, and we cannot afford to take any election for granted.
