My name is Sarah Curmi. Some of you may remember me from my time as EMILYs List's vice president of state and local campaigns, where I worked to recruit and support Democratic pro-choice women running for state legislative and local office.
State legislatures are ground zero for Republican attacks on our rights — from cuts to health care and extreme gerrymanders to direct assaults on bodily autonomy. And they are also where we can stop them by electing leaders who fight for our communities and reflect our values.
That is why, last year, I shifted my focus exclusively to building long-term Democratic power as the new executive director of States Win, formerly Sister District.
At States Win, just like at EMILYs List, we invest early in exceptional candidates, organize year-round, and back reproductive justice leaders while fighting to flip Republican-controlled state legislatures across the country.
In the months ahead, EMILYs List and States Win are investing in state-level races in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
