Team,

We’re seeing something deeply troubling unfolding in our country.

Federal agents recently executed a raid on the Georgia elections office in Fulton County, seizing ballots, tabulator tapes, digital images, and even voter rolls from the 2020 election in response to renewed pressure from president Donald Trump and his allies.

Illinois could easily be next.

But this isn’t about one county, one state, or one election. Trump and his supporters have openly suggested nationalizing elections, saying that the federal government should take control of voting systems that are currently run by the states.

News flash: That contradicts the Constitution and the very idea of local control over our elections. This is a move that should ring alarm bells for anyone who cares about the integrity of our elections and the privacy of voters.

Let me be very clear about what’s at stake:

Voter rolls contain sensitive information about eligible voters in every district.
The FBI’s actions were tied to Trump’s repeated, baseless claims about the 2020 election.
Courts and repeated audits have found no evidence that fraud in Georgia would have changed the outcome.
This sets a dangerous precedent: once federal agents start treating election records and voter data as spoils of political battles, every state becomes vulnerable.
If they can come for Georgia’s elections, there’s nothing stopping future attempts in Illinois or anywhere else, especially if Trump and his allies control more levers of power. That’s why protecting voter rolls and election records is essential to defend our democracy.

Add your name to demand the administration keeps their hands off of our voter rolls and election data. We will not tolerate misuse, intimidation, and politically motivated seizures.

This isn’t a partisan complaint of mine or my colleagues. We must defend our constitutional right to free and fair elections, where votes are counted accurately, where records aren’t weaponized, and where voters aren’t treated as data to be seized or exploited.

Our votes belong to the people, not to Trump.
