With the ongoing presence of federal agents operating in our neighborhoods, I understand the fear and anxiety this is causing our community. If you or your loved ones are staying safe inside your homes, I encourage you to lean on vetted crowdfunding or mutual aid support. You can also contact my office, and I will do my best to provide assistance.
However, if you feel the need to be among your neighbors, now—more than ever—is the time to come together, share joy, and reclaim our community’s future. During the 2025 legislative session, I worked to secure a $3 million appropriation for the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force in partnership with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.
As a result of this work, I am excited to announce the grand opening of Capitol Commons at 546, a new community-facing hub in the heart of the Capitol Area. This space marks a major milestone in the Capitol Vitality Program, born from the partnership between the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board.
More than just a building, Capitol Commons is a commitment to our communities and the many visitors who travel across our state to visit the State Capitol. This is a place for all of us.
Save the Date: Public Open House
Come see the space, meet your neighbors, and help us kick off this new chapter at the upcoming Public Open House:
This community storefront is designed for the neighborhood as a place for safety, partnership, and growth. The new location will provide:
-
A Helping Hand: Support for residents seeking resources in housing stability, public health, literacy, and job-skills development.
-
Community Space: Dedicated areas for community meetings, youth and family programming, and neighborhood engagement.
-
Direct Access: A visible and easily accessible point of contact for the Capitol Vitality Program.
-
Local Collaboration: A shared environment for nonprofits, small businesses, and government partners to work side-by-side.
-
Revitalization Leadership: A central hub to guide the Rice Street corridor through upcoming reconstruction and revitalization efforts.
