Dear Friend,
The Pro-Life Movement is alive and
vigorous!
On January 22, our country marked
the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision establishing
abortion as a right across our nation. Even though the Supreme Court
overturned the infamous Roe
v. Wade decision in June
of 2022, many states still uphold it.
For that reason pro-life advocates
gathered in the nation’s capital on Friday for the 53rd
annual March for Life. They marched from the National Mall to the
Supreme Court to voice their opposition to abortion. Life is a Gift
was the theme for this year’s march. There were many well-known
speakers including Vice President JD Vance, speaking for the second consecutive
year.
There were also local pro-life
manifestations of Americans standing up for life in cities across our
great nation and we encouraged our faithful followers to join actively
or prayerfully depending on their situation.
In San Diego I was joined by many
of our members and other faithful from across the county for the
14th Annual Walk for Life San Diego held at
Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego.
About two thousand people of all
ages attended with about 50 vendors and organizations hosting
informational booths. The atmosphere was one of faith filled
enthusiasm.
San Diego auxiliary bishop, Ramon
Bejarano gave the opening prayer and remarks followed by a
distinguished line up of pro-life advocates. Bishop Michael Pham, head
of the diocese, delivered the closing remarks reminding the faithful
of the importance of our faith and determination to stand up for the
unborn. Auxiliary bishop Felipe Pulido from San Diego also
attended.
Catholic Action hosted a statue of
the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima in conjunction with the Knights of
Columbus. Leading up the procession through the streets of San Diego,
the statue was hosted at the Knights of Columbus booth where many
faithful prayed and venerated the Blessed Mother.
When the procession began Knights
from Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish Council 9665 carried the statue
on a beautiful carrier high above the faithful for all to see. Our
group was also joined by Knights from St. Therese of Lisieux parish
Council 13124 who carried the Catholic Action banner.
Many other faithful joined our
group to pray the rosary as we processed with Fr. Jay Bananal leading
the Joyful mysteries of the Holy Rosary interspersed with Ave, Ave’s
between each mystery. As the faithful processed with rosaries in hand,
it was a beautiful public manifestation of our Catholic
Faith.
As we neared the end of the
procession Fr. Jay concluded with the Litany of the Blessed Mother
which left everyone faithfully inspired in standing up for the
sanctity of life of the unborn of our country.

Let us press on together, steadfast
in our defense of human life, from conception to natural
death.
Yours in the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
