Dear John: It's Monday, February 2, 2026, and Mission Monday is coming to you later than usual. We decided to endure Kevin Stitt's final State of the State and send our response.

We hosted a lively group at ODP HQ to watch the speech live. While the Governor gave us plenty of opportunities to laugh and boo, we didn't hear him mention the real challenges we face like:
๐ Rising costs of utilities, insurance and groceries
๐ Wages that aren't keeping up with costs
๐ Public schools that rank 50th nationally
๐ Hospitals at risk of closing
๐ Shrinking state revenue to support roads, schools, public safety and more
We already know the ways that Stitt and Republican policy has failed Oklahomans. His โTop 10โ promise has become a public joke as we've watched him drive public education to 50th , squander millions on failed corporations like Canoo , allow rural hospitals to close, and ignore skyrocketing costs of insurance .
Not surprisingly, none of these issues were covered in his speech.
Instead, Stitt focused on further slashing state revenue, giving unlimited funds to private school tuition, making it more difficult for people to access SNAP and other crisis programs, opening yet another public savings fund, and continuing his war with sovereign tribal nations.
The bottom line is this: Kevin Stitt is building an Oklahoma that only works for the wealthy. He wants the state to fully fund private schools and he'll pay for it with โsavingsโ from hungry kids denied food assistance. He plans to eliminate the income tax leaving us without revenue to run basic operations like highway maintenance and healthcare coverage. And, rather than partner with our largest economic contributor, he intends to foolishly battle our tribal nations in court.

It will take years to rebuild from Stittโs short-sightedness. But, new leadership is on the horizon. Cyndi Munson [[link removed]] offers a vision for our state with an economy that grows because we've made key investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

We CAN elect leaders we trust, who are accountable to the people, and who do whatโs right. It's going to take all of us to elect public servants who work together to move Oklahoma out of the bottom of the rankings. This is your personal invitation to join us in changing our state. Get involved by:
