Once again, Democratic leadership and Do-Nothing Democrats surrendered to Donald Trump. Cowards.
This weekend, 22 Democratic senators — including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer — voted with Republicans to fund the Department of Homeland Security for two more weeks.
They gave up their leverage, claiming they’ll fight for ICE “reforms” over the next two weeks while keeping them funded and terrorizing our communities.
But ICE cannot be reformed — it must be abolished.
And so many of the so-called reforms they’re suggesting aren’t even meaningful — they’re meek and performative at best, including more body cameras and requiring ICE to actually follow the law and court orders.
Trump’s regime has BEEN ignoring the Constitution and murdering innocent people while filming themselves: what makes Democrats think this will change anything?
Schumer said the message must be “restrain, reform, and restrict ICE.” No — it’s defund and abolish ICE, period.
This sums up the current state of the Democratic Party and why we need more primaries to make this a REAL opposition party. We deserve better than this, and Justice Democrats is working to make it happen by supporting 10 working-class, progressive primary challengers this election year.
