Dear Friends,
Yesterday was the first day of Black History Month and I hope you’ll join me this coming Thursday, February 5th, for a celebration at Winchester Hall. This year’s theme is a “Century of Black History Commemorations” as it was 100 years ago that Dr. Carter Woodson created the first weeklong observance of Black History.

In times like these, it is more important than ever to come together and remain grounded in our vision for Frederick County– that we strive to be a vibrant and unique community where all people can live, work, and thrive while enjoying a strong sense of place and belonging.
I hope you will join to celebrate Black history and lift up the voices and experiences of Black Frederick County residents.
Sincerely,
Jessica Fitzwater
