I am pleased to share that registration ([link removed]) is now officially open for the 2026 John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize, and that the 2026 essay questions have today been released. All who plan to participate in the competition are required to register.
The Global Essay Prize is recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious academic competitions for students. Last year we welcomed more than 60,000 registrations from over 150 countries. Our panel of examiners - including distinguished scholars in philosophy, politics, economics, history, law, theology, and psychology - read and carefully consider every eligible submission.
This year, we are delighted to introduce three new subject categories: Public Policy, Science & Technology, and International Relations. Each of our ten categories contains three carefully crafted questions, inviting students to think critically, read deeply, and write with clarity and conviction.
I encourage you to browse the 2026 questions and see which one of them challenges you or sparks your imagination. I hope you will take the opportunity to engage rigorously with a question, develop your own perspective, and share your thinking with us.
You will find full details, including all essay questions, entry requirements, and deadlines, at our website here ([link removed]) .
We look forward to reading your work, and I sincerely hope to have the good fortune to meet you in London in October!
Kindest regards,
Bailey Cornish
