Stronger With Immigrants

Dear Friend,

In dark times, we look to one another for the Light. Since taking office just over a year ago, President Donald Trump has enacted a plethora of cruel immigration policies. These policies are tearing apart families and neighborhoods. They are disrupting communities. And they are creating a culture of fear. Yet as authoritarianism and violence have risen, so has a nonviolent response grounded in love from people of conscience.

As a Quaker organization, we believe in the inherent dignity of every person. We recognize that immigrants make our communities stronger [link removed] . We're calling for an immigration system that is welcoming, dignified, and just. And we're supporting people creating communities of care across the country.

In San Diego [link removed] , AFSC staff are supporting emergency networks to respond to ICE raids. In New Jersey [link removed] , we’re tracking people in detention to prevent ICE from disappearing them. In Florida [link removed] , we're providing mutual aid and resources to people navigating the immigration system. Across the country [link removed] , we’re organizing vigils and protests. Last week, we delivered a petition to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with the names of more than 13,000 community members. This petition sent a clear message that our communities reject hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric and actions. We stand with our neighbors.

In the last year, we have seen more and more people get involved with ICE watch programs, Know Your Rights trainings, mutual aid networks, and deportation defense. This groundswell of people committed to protecting our communities has made a difference. Together, we have prevented many deportations, kept community members safe, and fostered hope in challenging times. Thank you for standing with immigrant communities and with one another in the struggle for peace and justice.

Join us as we mobilize to protect our neighbors, our neighborhoods, and our rights. Send a message to Congress and the Trump administration. Demand that ICE and Border Patrol stay out of our communities! [link removed]

Thank you for all you do. The arc of the moral universe may be long, but we find our strength in one another along the path. Together, we will create a more just world.

In solidarity,

Amy Gottlieb
U.S. Migration Director
