Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) just gave one of the best speeches in the United States Senate.
Schmitt’s message?
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Border Patrol, and law enforcement officers deporting illegal immigrants are heroes, period. They put their lives on the line every day. They protect our communities from criminals. And they are cleaning up the national mess that Joe Biden’s border crisis foisted onto our country.
Schmitt took a flame-thrower to the fake narrative that the anti-ICE violence and disorder in Minnesota is law enforcement’s fault.
“It’s not ICE or Border Patrol that’s causing this terror,” Schmitt said. “It’s the militant leftists and their enablers in the Democrat Party.”
Amen.
Schmitt laid out the Left’s strategy: to open the border, to rig the census, and to escalate conflict.
“They want the confrontations,” Schmitt said. “They want the chaos… They have decided that leaning in and ratcheting this up as far as it can go serves their political and ideological interests.”
He excoriated radicals for employing “organized mob violence as a weapon to undermine the express will of the people when democracy doesn’t go their way.”
Schmitt talked about the violent felons ICE has taken off our streets — and the courage and dedication of the officers on the ground: “They’re on the front lines of the fight to save our country. And we owe them absolute, unequivocal, unflinching support.”
While the media, the Left, and the Republican Establishment wring their hands, Schmitt is reminding Washington elites that immigration enforcement is what Donald Trump was elected to do.
Eric Schmitt’s speech doesn’t just make the case for enforcing America’s immigration laws. It also makes the case for electing true conservatives — fighting, principled leaders.
While other Republicans go wobbly, Schmitt is going on offense. In a party of question marks, he is an exclamation point.
