Fairfield’s Snub of Education Secretary Linda McMahon Was Low Class

Principal Christine Booth of McKinley Elementary School in Fairfield, Connecticut, was so over the moon that Education Secretary Linda McMahon was visiting her school that she sent the following email to the students’ parents:

“We are thrilled to share some exciting news! This Friday, McKinley Elementary School will welcome a very special guest, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, as part of the History Rocks! Tour, a national program connected to the U.S. Department of Education’s America 250 initiative celebrating our nation’s upcoming 250th birthday.”

But what was supposed to be an educational and historic event for the children was cancelled. And now it has became such an embarrassment to Fairfield that even liberal journalist Dan Haar - no fan of Donald Trump or Linda McMahon - called the incident “a rude setback to liberal education and values.”

And what happened was truly rude, disgusting and low class. Fairfield’s Angry White Female Liberals (AWFULs according to the psephologists) – the most pampered demographic in human history – started complaining.

One Democratic member of the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting, Tracy Rodriguez stated:

“I think it’s completely inappropriate to have someone from the Trump administration speaking directly to our children, and in light of what’s happening in our country right now, I personally felt that the safety of our students and staff was not being considered.”

But how was the safety of the students and staff being threatened? Was Ms. McMahon planning to bring Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock from the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and have them throw the students around?

Perhaps she disagreed with Ms. McMahon’s policies. But what are they?

As Ms. McMahon points out, the Department of Education is a bloated bureaucracy that doesn’t educate a single child. Since its inception during the Carter administration, the scores of students, especially minorities, have plummeted.

Ms. McMahon is a strong proponent of school vouchers so that minority students are not forced to attend substandard schools. Affluent white liberals in towns like Fairfield Connecticut fight this tooth and nail so their school systems remain lily white. That is why Connecticut’s schools are among the most segregated in the country and there is a huge disparity in property values between towns like Fairfield and Bridgeport.

Ms. McMahon believes that students should pay back their student loans. But liberal educated women look down their noses at the women who did not attend college, and see no problem with taxing hairdressers, cafeteria workers and nannies to bail out these freeloaders.

But this does not mean that Fairfield’s children did not get some good lessons from this incident.

Lesson #1. Spineless obsequiousness is justified when it is a good economic move. And there is no better teacher than Fairfield School Superintendent Michael Testini. All it took was a few complaints to get him to cave like a sack of potatoes and heave Ms. McMahon overboard. And when you’re raking in $291,000 a year, why rock the boat, especially when your final pension is calculated on the average of your last three years’ salary. In a few years, Mr. Testini could be sipping margaritas on Delray Beach with a fat six-figure pension that increases every year with inflation, not to mention Cadillac health insurance that is also included. And no one will remember or even care about this ugly incident.

So pay attention boys and girls. Mastering this concept is much better than knowing how to figure out the volume of a conic sections.

Lesson #2. Politicians lie. Fairfield Representative Jennifer Leeper while gloating over the dumping of Ms. McMahon stated:

“Moreover, our McKinley community is our most international community and we heard loud and clear given the extremely aggressive ICE tactics, people did not feel safe having their child attend school with a senior member of this administration.”

This is utter nonsense. Who did she hear this from? How many illegal immigrants can afford to live in Fairfield?

There is not a scintilla of evidence that Ms. McMahon was going to bring members of ICE into the school and start deporting illegal immigrant students. Besides, the only time Representative Leeper has contact with illegal immigrants is when they are wearing leaf blowers in her tony neighborhood or serving her perfectly chilled chardonnay in one of Fairfield’s posh restaurants.

But Ms. McMahon may have the last laugh. Children become teenagers and teenagers like to rebel, especially since they have not learned yet that hypocrisy is the norm.

Ari Fleischer, George W. Bush’s Press Secretary, grew up in a liberal New York Democratic family. When his father was asked how Ari became a Republican he responded (and I paraphrase): “Most children rebel by growing their hair long and wearing funny clothes. Ari rebelled by becoming a Republican.”

Maybe some of Fairfield’s children will outrage their parents by donning MAGA hats in a few years. But hopefully none will adopt their parents’ low-class manners.
