Dear Neighbor,
Last week, I hosted my monthly tele-town hall and provided a legislative update at Wesleyann Village in Hernando, where I highlighted my initiatives to restore America First policies that positively impact seniors, Veterans, and families throughout our district. I sincerely appreciated everyone who took the time to participate in both events. We had productive discussions on current issues and priorities affecting our community, including the many ways the Tax Working Families Tax Cuts Act will benefit families and small businesses across our district. Please continue reading for a brief overview of my work on your behalf.
Fighting for Families: With every new American baby receiving a starter savings account, families can begin laying the foundation for long-term financial security from the very first day of life. This innovative approach empowers parents to plan ahead and invest in their children’s futures early on.
What is a Trump Account?
- Families get $1,000 for every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. The account is fully in the child’s name, and parents are the sole custodian until they turn 18. No contributions are necessary, but families can deposit up to $5,000 per year to maximize growth.
How do I enroll my child in a Trump Account?
- Make an election when you file your taxes.
- A financial institution will receive your funds and activate your account.
- Sit back and watch the money grow. Contribute anytime (or not). With this single $1,000 contribution, a child will have $5,800 by the time they turn 18. If the child opts to keep it in the account, he or she will have $17,000 by age 27. If the child leaves it to grow until age 55, he or she will have $200,000 -All from a $1,000 investment.

Improving Access to Care: As Co-Chair of the House Diabetes Caucus, I was honored to speak with patients, advocates, and providers at this year’s Breakthrough T1D Conference. We discussed our ongoing efforts to spur medical innovation and expand patient access to high-quality care.
Last week, I toured a dialysis center in Trinity, where I learned about innovative work being done to expand patient care options and discussed the critical importance of ensuring continued access to care for these medically fragile patients.
Protecting Religious Freedom: As Co-Chair of the International Religious Freedom Caucus, I was honored to speak at a recent Interfaith Conference about the importance of continuing our efforts to protect fundamental human rights, including the freedom to worship as one chooses.
I also enjoyed speaking with Pastor Tom of the Chapel in Trinity about the incredible outreach efforts led by his team to serve those less fortunate in our community.
Maximizing Resources for Our Community: I was honored to join volunteers across the district for this year’s annual HUD Point-in-Time Count. Accurate counts are critical, as they play a key role in determining the resources our communities receive to address and prevent homelessness.
I also enjoyed meeting with Ann Marie Winters of the Area Agency on Aging of Pinellas and Pasco, along with Pasco County Administrator Cathy Pearson, to receive an update on their collaborative efforts to provide safe, affordable housing for low-income seniors. I will continue working to support these important initiatives.
Strengthening Public Safety: Two public safety bills I co-authored are moving forward in the House, reflecting our continued commitment to strengthening public safety communications and protecting our communities. Read more about these initiatives here.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team was honored to attend the dedication of the Female Veterans Memorial Statue in Citrus County, a meaningful tribute recognizing the service, sacrifice, and lasting contributions of the women who have proudly served our Nation in uniform.
My team also attended a gathering of local and state officials united in opposition to offshore drilling in the Gulf of America, where participants emphasized the importance of protecting our coastal communities, environment, and local economies for future generations.
Additionally, my team enjoyed participating in Leadership Hernando’s Class of 2026 Government Day, engaging with emerging community leaders and discussing the role of government, civic engagement, and public service in shaping the future of our region.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this message from a constituent after working on his VA appeal.
I am grateful to you, Ms. Sellas, and your staff for reaching out to the VA on my behalf and obtaining this important information. I will keep in mind your offer of future assistance with federal agencies and programs, should the need arise. Thank you for your service to our great nation.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. Also, if you are planning a trip to Washington, DC please let us know 90 days in advance so we can help make the most of your visit. We are here to serve you! |
