Last night, local Iowa television showcased my recent speech before Democratic National Committee (DNC) delegates this past week.
"He may be the most accomplished presidential candidate..." George Mallet of KIMT told Iowans last night. "Joe Sestak is making his way through Iowa…he represent[ed] Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district… serv[ing] for 31 years in the US Navy, graduating second in his class from the United States Naval Academy… achiev[ing] the rank of three star Admiral, making him the highest-ranking military officer ever elected to Congress at the time of his election."
Pointing out that I am running on accountability -- in answering for oneself, not for one's intentions but for one's deeds -- KIMT noted one of the examples I gave to the DNC: “Sestak has little tolerance for politicians in either party who voted for the war in Iraq, saying, 'I never forgot those Democrats and Republicans alike who voted for that tragic misadventure in Iraq. Who didn't understand the difference between a Sunni and a Shia. Who didn't understand that militaries can stop a problem, they can never fix a problem. And they didn't understand that you better know how its going to end before you decide to use our military.'"
I want to serve Americans -- all Americans -- as President because I want them to have someone they can trust and know is accountable only to them, above party, above self, above any special interest.
