We’re growing the Union Substack, and we’re inviting you to be part of it!

This work is one way we organize and take action together. Writing, editing, publishing, and supporting this platform is a form of activism. We publish work on politics, local issues, and on-the-ground experiences, alongside reflections from people doing the work or directly affected — with an eye toward action.

Right now, we’re looking for volunteers to join the Substack team, including writers, editors, publishers, and tech support. Whether you want to write immediately or help behind the scenes, there’s a role for you.

If you want to learn more or get plugged in live, join us for our Wednesday Substack team meeting — it’s open to anyone interested.

If you’re ready to write now, you can submit a draft directly. We’re looking for pieces around 600–900 words with a clear point of view, a strong opening, and an accessible, respectful tone.

Please email your draft to [email protected] and include:

- A title

- Your name and state

- A short bio (2–3 sentences)

- Preferred format (Google Doc or Word document, if available — not required)

- An optional image (Adobe or Unsplash preferred)

- A list of sources or references, if cited in your article

Editors may make light edits for clarity and length, and you’ll always receive the live link once your piece is up.
