Alcohol sales to end at 11 p.m. in Alabama during pandemic

In an effort to curb COVID-19 cases, the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board voted to restrict alcohol sales at 11 p.m. for all restaurants, bars and country clubs. Violation of the change could lead to an establishment getting its license to serve alcohol suspended.

Texas no longer includes to-go, distributed alcoholic beverage sales in on-site consumption calculation

In late June, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order to roll back the state’s reopening for bars and other establishments. The order banned on-site service for establishments that derive more than 51% of their gross receipts from the sale of alcoholic beverages – including to-go sales of and distributed volume to retailers and wholesalers. As Brewbound reports, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) ruled on Friday that the 51% calculation of gross receipts should only tally the sale of alcoholic beverages actually for on-premise consumption, and not include to-go and distributed volume in the calculation.

$100 million international crime ring busted for making illegal wine

Over 60 enterprises from seven countries were involved with a Spanish crime ring that was caught producing over $100 million worth of illegal alcoholic beverages. According to The Drinks Business, the organization used fraudulent ingredients to lower wine production costs and increase profit margins, including fermenting high-fructose corn syrup instead of grapes to make wine and grain alcohol instead of distilled wine to make brandy. Illegal firearms and luxury vehicles were also reportedly discovered during police searches.

Post Malone might be starting a world beer pong league

Musical artist Post Malone might be looking at creating a league for beer pong competitors. According to reports, Malone and his team have filed a trademark for the name "World Pong League". The plans are only in preliminary stages so there isn't information on what format will officially look like but they plan to have tournaments, competitions, events, exhibitions and merchandise.
