John xxxxxx,
We cannot normalize civilians being killed during federal operations. Alex Pretti isn’t just a name in a news story. He was someone’s son, someone’s friend, and someone his coworkers stood beside every day. He was a compassionate caregiver at the VA, taking care of our nation’s finest. There’s a video of him reading a farewell message to a patient he cared for who had just passed. That’s the kind of person he was.
He, along with Renee Good, Isaias Sanchez Barboza, and Keith Porter — people who simply cared about their communities — are now gone. That should weigh heavily on all of us. |

I spent my career in public safety. I know how fast situations can turn. I also know the standard: slow it down, protect life, and use force only when there is no other option. That discipline isn’t optional. It’s the job.
What should concern every American is how quickly narratives form in moments like this. Labels and press statements are not due process. Calling someone a “domestic terrorist” after they’re dead, before a full and independent accounting, does not replace a transparent investigation grounded in evidence.
This isn’t anti-law enforcement. It’s about accountability. Agencies with this kind of power cannot answer only to themselves when lives are lost. Public safety means protecting life first. Always. Authority must never go unchecked. And right now, too many leaders in Washington look the other way when these tragedies happen. I’m running for Congress because public safety and human dignity should never be in conflict. We can protect communities and protect lives, but it takes leadership willing to demand accountability.
Please consider contributing to our campaign today — whether it’s $25, $50, $100, or any amount — to help us bring real oversight, real standards, and real accountability back to our government. |
Let’s work together to prevent tragedies like these from happening again.
