This week, I spent District Work Week back home meeting with constituents, local leaders, and my staff to stay grounded in the needs of our community. I also shared an impeachment update during an interview with Bloomberg. 

Finally, my office established additional satellite office hours in Lansing and Chicago to better serve constituents across the District.

Under Secretary Noem’s direction, ICE has used unchecked, Gestapo-style tactics that spread fear in our neighborhoods, from Chicago to Minneapolis to Los Angeles. I have seen families traumatized, trust shattered, and basic rights ignored. That endangers the public and betrays our national values.

As a Member of Congress, I will not stay silent. To protect our communities, we must dismantle ICE and impeach Secretary Noem. Enough is enough.

I refuse to give Secretary Noem’s ICE a single dime. ICE’s budget already surpasses several other countries’ entire defense budgets—and this rogue agency has done nothing to keep us safe. ICE has only left death, chaos, and tragedy in their wake as they terrorize city after city. Last week, I voted HELL NO on giving ICE $10 billion more, and eight Senate Republicans voted with Senate Democrats to block the funding.

Now, I’m closely watching what the Senate decides to send back to the House in regards to DHS spending. Right now, we have the opportunity to put guardrails around ICE, including body cameras, identification, a ban on masks, requirement for warrants, and independent investigations. We need to ultimately dismantle ICE—but this is a start.

On Bloomberg News, I spoke with Joe Mathieu about my efforts to impeach Secretary Kristi Noem.  I strongly criticized the administration’s rush to judgment and lies after the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good. Secretary Noem has got to go.

Over 180 House Democrats support my impeachment efforts, and we are sending a clear message that we must hold Secretary Noem accountable. The American people are demanding better, and I will persist until we restore the rule of law and safeguard our communities.
