Democrat Meg Luger-Nikolai won her special general election on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, for the state House District 64A seat in Minnesota, defeating her Republican challenger, Dan Walsh, by a convincing 95.6% to 4.4% margin. This democratic victory, along with another special election win in the uncontested House District 47A race, brings the state house back to a 67-67 even party split. House Districts 47A and 64A are comprised of Saint Paul and some of the city's eastern suburbs. As a result of the equal divide, the two parties will operate under their previously negotiated power-sharing agreement. |
