John, if you’re wondering who really calls the shots at the Supreme Court right now, don’t overthink it.
It’s Donald Trump.
When Trump’s agenda hits a wall in the lower courts, he doesn’t wait. He sprints to the Supreme Court’s so-called emergency docket to get the ruling he wants.
And like clockwork, the conservative majority delivers.
More than 75% of the time, the Court gives Trump exactly what he wants. No full briefing. No real scrutiny. No transparency. Just rushed, back-room orders that shove his policies forward while real people pay the price.
The emergency docket is supposed to be for emergencies only, not Trump’s personal cheat code to circumvent the law.
Through the emergency docket — or “shadow docket” — the Court has greenlit mass firings of federal workers, stripped humanitarian protections from immigrants, and banned transgender people from military service.
The justices call these decisions “temporary…”
Tell that to the immigrants unjustly deported or to the workers who have lost their jobs.
This is not business as usual, John.
