This tax season is shaping up to be the largest tax refund season in American history, and it is happening because Congress delivered real tax relief for working families.
Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, millions of Americans are expected to see significantly larger refunds when they file. Multiple economic analyses project average refunds rising by $1,000 or more, with some estimates showing increases of 15 to 30 percent compared to prior years. In total, experts estimate taxpayers could receive up to $50 billion more back in refunds this year.
That means more money staying where it belongs, with families, workers, and seniors who earned it.
The law lowers taxes in every county in every state, with the average taxpayer expected to see nearly $4,000 in total tax savings in 2026. It also boosts take-home pay for typical working families by more than $10,000 a year, while permanently increasing the standard deduction claimed by nearly 90 percent of taxpayers. Key provisions include no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security, allowing workers and seniors to keep more of their hard-earned money.
The bill also permanently raises the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 per child, benefits small businesses through a permanent 20 percent deduction, and supports job creation projected to protect or create up to 7.2 million jobs nationwide.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are doing their jobs in communities across the country by operating lawfully in more than 15 states to remove dangerous criminal aliens and uphold federal law. Yet time and time again, national flashpoints only seem to emerge in one place: Minnesota.
That is not a coincidence.
Over the past year, threats against ICE agents have increased 8,000%,according to DHS reporting, with officers facing more harassment, doxxing attempts, and organized efforts to interfere with enforcement operations. Those threats are concentrated where political leaders have chosen to vilify federal law enforcement instead of working with them, and in Minnesota that showmanship has dominated the narrative. In that climate, left-wing elected officials have spent months demonizing ICE, undermining cooperation, and fueling hostility toward federal law enforcement, and the result has been predictable with heightened tensions, coordinated activist interference, and ICE agents placed directly in harm’s way while carrying out the same mission they perform professionally elsewhere.
No one wants to see anyone killed. No one wants to see American citizens harmed. Those outcomes are tragic and unacceptable. But reckless rhetoric that fuels chaos and hostility toward law enforcement does not make communities safer, it makes dangerous situations more likely for everyone involved.
That is why President Trump sent Border Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota to meet directly with state and local officials and make clear that public safety comes first. Those meetings made clear that cooperation with federal law enforcement must be followed through. When leaders choose rhetoric over responsibility, it creates chaos. When they choose the rule of law, communities are safer.
In Texas, we have taken a different approach. We work with ICE. We respect law enforcement. And we prioritize the safety of our American citizens over illegal aliens. That partnership is why ICE can do its job without constant disruption and why Texans don’t see the same breakdowns playing out on national television.
America is great because we are a nation of laws. Supporting the men and women who enforce those laws is essential. The Trump administration has made clear it will stand with ICE, secure the homeland, and hold leaders accountable when their words and actions endanger public safety.

Under the One Big Beautiful Bill, a new program called Trump Accounts was created to help America’s children start saving and investing early in life.
Every child born in the United States between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028 is eligible. Each qualifying child receives a one-time $1,000 investment, placed into an index fund and held in the child’s name, with a parent or guardian serving as custodian until age 18.
Families are not required to add any additional money, but parents, employers, nonprofits, and philanthropists can contribute more over time if they choose. The goal is simple: let those early dollars grow so they can be used later in life for things like education, a first home, or starting a business.
According to estimates included with the program, even a single $1,000 deposit at birth has the potential to grow significantly over time, showing how powerful early investment can be when families are given the tools to plan ahead. Trump Accounts are scheduled to officially launch on July 4, 2026, with enrollment tied to the tax-filing process.

President Trump has declared January 25 through January 31 as National School Choice Week, and that message hits home for families across Texas.
Texas educates more than 5.5 million students. Many of our schools do an outstanding job, but parents know their children are not one size fits all. Families deserve the freedom to choose the school or learning environment that works best for their child, not be boxed in by bureaucracy or ZIP codes.
For years, Washington poured more money into education while test scores dropped and parents were pushed further out of the conversation. The Trump administration is changing course by putting parents back in charge and making sure no student is stuck in a failing school with no options. That commitment was reinforced with the One Big Beautiful Bill, which created the first nationwide education tax credit to support K-12 scholarships. It gives families more flexibility, expands opportunity, and helps make education more affordable while empowering parents instead of federal bureaucrats.
The administration has also directed the Department of Education to prioritize school choice and return decision-making power to the states. Texas knows how to educate Texas kids, and parents deserve a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s future.
School choice works when parents are trusted, students have options, and classrooms focus on learning. That is how we give the next generation in Texas a real shot at success.

Through the ice and cold weather, we hiked across the district to stay connected with the folks who keep Southeast Texas moving! We kicked things off at the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet, followed by the Groves Chamber of Commerce Annual Breakfast, where it’s always good to catch up with local business leaders and community partners.
We also joined UTMB Health for a Lunch & Learn to talk about healthcare access and ongoing initiatives serving families across the region. We wrapped up at the Clear Lake Area Chamber Luncheon, where the focus turned to the 2026 World Cup coming to Houston. With millions of visitors expected, the event will bring significant tourism, economic activity, and opportunity to our region, including businesses and workers right here in our district.
No matter the weather, YOUR office is always out in the community, listening, showing up, and working for you!
